Northport is an idyllic harbor community in Suffolk County, New York.  It is 40 miles east of midtown Manhattan between the towns of Huntington and Smithtown, on Long Island's North Shore. The Victorian, colonial and one-of-a-kind property styles add to the charm of Northport.

The village center, specifically Main Street, is lined with shops, restaurants, antique stores and offices.  Northport certainly has an 19th Century feel with vintage trolley tracks still showing in the streets.  The Northport Trolley which had ceased operations in 1924 enjoyed a popular revival in the 1970s and 1980s, transporting weekend tourists along Main Street.  There is a harborfront park with a gazebo and band shell for residents and visitors to enjoy. Not far from the harborfront park, you will find Northport Harbor.  The harbor is lined with boats and leads out into the Long Island Sound which is viewable by a neighboring boardwalk with beautiful views out into the Sound and across to Connecticut.

Members of the chamber of commerce continously work to improve and strengthen Northport's commerce.  The village hosts concerts, parades, the annual Great Cow Harbor 10K run, holiday celebrations and a unique holiday shopping experience all in an effort to maintain and build success in Northport.

Students attend the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District.
